Hurricane Sandy 4 year anniversary
Remembering the super storm that hit our area 4 years ago to day is crazy to think about. My family and i were out of electricity for 15 days. Not hot water. nothing! We had to go to the local wendys to charge our computers and cell phones that we then couldnt use wifi on either. This resorted into watching dvds and endless boredom. Which rises the question.. what did we do before all these technological advances? People actually went outside and hung out with family. Its crazy that a storm could make you realize all these things we think are so important maybe arent. People lost house and all material possesions, their businesses, and cars and boats. But many people still had there family. Something to think about when storms hit, to be thankful for your family and what you have.
Presidential Debate
It may just be because im getting older, but now more than ever it seems like everyone is a political genius and everyone knows about politics. Some say its an American’s duty to keep up with politics and vote regularly. However, what do you do if you are dumbfounded by both the candidates running? Thats exactly how i feel this election. It is like i have to figure out which one is less evil than the other and that changes every day and every debate. With all the allegations against Trump and his sexual assaults how would it make sense for a woman to vote for him? But at the same time Hilary has countless times that she has lied to the country and been caught doing things that are not ethical. This leaves people like me in a tough spot. My prediction for this election is that we are going to have the smallest number of votes in total than see in years passed.
Too America?
This passed week our school received some not so good media. Apparently, someone in administration had told a student that a BBQ on campus needed to be changed because it was, too america? In my 22 years of living IN AMERICA, i have never heard of being TOO america. The students got an email from administration stating that it was not true or that the media was covering it incorrectly. I find it weird that a student would make this sort of thing up. Also, where would someone even come up with this? There is no doubt our country is going through some crazy things from politics to sports and everything in between. The one thing we should be able to all have pride in having in common is that yes we are all AMERICAN! Something that should be celebrated day in and day out.
